The Nurmi Isles Houses include four conceptual designs for two adjacent lots in one of Fort Lauderdale’s historic residential districts. Created in the 1920’s by the Boston developer, W.F. Morang, the Nurmi Isles development provided hundreds of water front properties by dredging canals to form long finger islands with boat access to the Intracostal Waterway.

The two lots in this conceptual study, each measuring 120 feet deep x 90 feet wide, are located on Fiesta Way. The canal, Rio Cervantes Waterway, runs along the properties’ west boundaries.

Of the four conceptual studies, one design combines the lots to create one large property with one expansive house. The other three options explore the opportunities of developing two separate houses of varying sizes and amenities. Views, sun exposure and private outdoor entertainment spaces were important considerations in each design.
